We all feel it. This period in history of uncertainty, fear and an unhealthy exhaustion that comes from a rapidly changing global political and ideological shift.
The noise in the world is loud and media does little to qualm the anxiety.
But, as you may or may not know, I am the girl who is forever looking and finding the silver lining in everything, so here it comes…
Even in these times, there is a huge possibility for us to come together as humanity and empower and uplift each other such that we can all create a wonderful space for us to thrive in.
But before we can work as a community, we need to work on ourselves. The real work always begins with us. Listening to the inner voice, that seat of wisdom, the inner knowing that is always guiding us is a good place to start. Some call it intuition; some call it soul. It really doesn’t matter what name you give it; it is an ever-present source of guidance that is always leading us the next step, and then the next, and the next. All that we need to do is follow.
How to access this voice, how can we become more tuned to the source that is always reverberating within? Since, the voice is quite subtle, it requires us to quieten the chatter around. Consider this:
· Would you be willing to shut off the news?
· Would you be willing to spend time alone?
· Would you be willing to be without your phone?
· Would you be willing to sit still and breath?
· Would you be willing to listen?
The following is a quote from Dr Joe Dispenza, a researcher of epigenetics, quantum physics, neuroscience and a New York Times bestselling author:
You will learn that the true purpose of meditation is to get beyond the analytical mind and enter into the subconscious mind so you can make real and permanent changes. If you get up from meditation like the same person who sat down, nothing has happened to you on any level. When you meditate and connect to something greater, you can create and then memorize such coherence between your thoughts and feelings that nothing in your outer reality—nothing, no person, no condition at any place or time—could move you from that level of energy. Now you are mastering your environment, your body, and time.
I believe, we each must find out for ourselves the path that feels the right fit. For some it could be meditation, for some dancing, for others mountain climbing and for some, baking. The paths are many, the goal is the same: access to our inner wisdom.
This wisdom will leave clues that we can pick up and weave into stories. Clues of resilience, lessons learned that made us stronger, wiser, and more attuned to who we are. And it will gift us the skeletal frameworks that make up our stories. Stories to share with each other. Which is where we always turn to when we need inspiration, when we are craving for connection. It was what we have always done. Especially, when the need to come closer is so vital to our existence, when our body and mind sense the outside threats.
We are storytellers and storykeepers.
And I love metaphor in the lyrics written by Jon Hopkins:
As if in each of us
There once was a fire
And for some of us
There seem as if there are only ashes now
But when we dig in the ashes
We find one ember
And very gently we fan that ember
Blow on it, it gets brighter
And from that ember we rebuild the fire
Only thing that's important is that ember
That's what you and I are here to celebrate
That though we've lived our life totally involved in the world
We know
We know that we're of the spirit
The ember gets stronger
Flame starts to flicker a bit
And pretty soon you realize that all we're going to do for eternity
Is sit around the fire
So, what is going to be?
Storytelling and gathering or giving into fear mongering and suffering?
Coming together to create from a wholesome place or being lonely in a world that is fragmented?
Extending our arms and hearts to each other or huddling in our own belief corners?
Our choices will define who we are and how are lives unfold.
